Word up! O is for Ovary (…the botanical kind)

Ovary

 

The female part of a plant contained in the flower. The ovary holds the ovules which, once fertilised, develop into seeds. There are generally two positions within the flower:

Inferior (epigynous) – where the ovary lies below the attachment of other floral parts, see above:

POPPY ovary
Superior (hypogynous) – where the ovary is attached to the receptacle above other floral parts, see above:
