F is for Frost Pocket – Word Up!

Frost Pocket

Low lying or dished area where freezing air collects and cannot drain away to lower levels. Frost pockets may be formed by the configuration of the ground or by solid barriers such as fences or evergreen hedges. The temperature in a frost pocket may fall below that of the surrounding area and frost may persist for longer.
