Tar Spot Rhytisma acerinum Tar spot is a very conspicuous fungal leaf spot disease of sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) and other maples. Whilst the large leaf spots sometimes cause gardeners concern, they actually do very little damage to the tree.
