Snow storm
This photo was taken two days ago during one of the many snow storms that we’ve had this week. We all were taken by surprise to have so much snow this late in the season. My twitter stream was crammed with outraged gardeners.
But it was supposed to be spring!
In between the snow storms the sun shone, which gave us some amazing views.
Survival
I really enjoy the snowy landscapes that we have here in the Ardennes, but the prolonged winter has taken it’s toll on me. Thankfully it will be our last winter here in this temporary home of ours, where the water pipes have frozen three times in as many months… Have you ever had to manage without water? It’s very strange, you keep turning on the tap to wash your hands or get a drink and then when nothing comes out you remember there is none. No showers, no washing the dishes, no water to wash your vegetables or boil an egg. You have to get inventive, melt-snow-on-the-woodburner kind of inventive, but it’s surviving rather than living.
Next winter everything will be different. Our new house will be finished with its normal plumbing and underfloor heating; the polytunnel will be in place in which to spend many a sunny winter’s day and I will be able to enjoy rather than endure winter.
What luxury!!

….. Goodness I had no idea it could get so cold and the light in the storm? We are lucky to have the Sun! as a Planet! …..
The weather here in the Belgian Ardennes is always very unpredictable but even now we were a bit surprised by this cold spell. Enjoy your sunshine a bit for me please?
