Weather
The day started with a little fog which cleared soon enough. The strong winds we have been having last week were gone and when the sun came peeking through the clouds I knew this was going to be a good day.
Hard work
After some household chores I put on my working boots, got my compost fork and wheelbarrow and headed to the compost heap. A few hours later and after a good workout I had composted two raised beds. Unfortunately I do not have enough compost for the rest of the beds. The top half of the compost heap still needs to decay so I turned the whole heap over and I am going to leave the heap to do its magic.
Using recycled materials
We had the green plastic composter already in Rotterdam and brought it with us. In Rotterdam the composter was way to big, it took up to much of the garden. In this green composter we now put our kitchen waste and in the recycled pallets composter the garden waste. It was a good idea from my friend and guestblogger Bridget from LifeAtTheVillas. The kitchen waste is already composting even during the cold weather. The raised bed in the photo is made with old roof tiles.

I know I'm a bit biased.., but that raised bed looks great...
